Launching guidelines for the Saudi Building Code
The Saudi Council of Engineers, in cooperation with the parties participating in the Permanent Coordinating Committee for the Development of the Contracting Sector, launched guidelines to enhance the quality of the building code system, which include an explanation of the required regulations and procedures, and are part of the committee’s initiatives towards developing the building and construction sector in the Kingdom.
The Authority’s Secretary General, Engineer Abdel Nasser Al-Abdullatif, said: It worked to prepare guidelines in cooperation with all relevant government agencies, indicating that these guides aim to develop the work of the Saudi Code for residential buildings.
He noted the Authority’s keenness to provide the best practices and information that would help office owners, engineering companies, contracting companies, and inspectors and examiners professionally to contribute to the development and sustainability of their engineering work.
He explained that the guidelines contain an explanation of the required regulations and procedures, in addition to pictures and illustrative drawings that are compatible with engineering practices, and include units of measurement and mathematical equations in order to enrich the beneficiaries of the service providers and practitioners, and provide them with guides that provide them with all the data and raise their readiness in applying the requirements of the Saudi Building Code.
He stated that the Authority aims, through these guides, to create a basic reference that serves this sector, calling on engineering offices and companies, contracting companies, inspectors and examiners to view the guidelines and benefit from the service.
