Al-Hogail: The contracting sector is an essential pillar in the growth and prosperity of Saudi Arabia
The Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing, Majid Al-Hogail, witnessed the opening of the Future Projects Forum in its fifth edition, organized by the Saudi Contractors Authority in the city of Riyadh, with the participation and presence of 41 government and private entities, as it reviews the details and developments of more than 3,000 projects worth one trillion Saudi riyals.
During his speech, the Minister stressed that such events have a major role in enhancing communication between government and private sectors, and sharing information, data and experiences with local and international contractors, which contribute greatly to the accurate planning of their work, which contributes to developing contractors’ performance and their obtaining appropriate opportunities.
He explained that the contracting sector represents a fundamental pillar in the growth and prosperity of the Kingdom, as it plays an essential role in enabling many of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiatives, and is also the primary driver of many important sectors.
He said: “The government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, attaches great importance to developing and supporting this sector, through the establishment of the Saudi Contractors Authority as one of the capabilities provided by the government to this sector, in addition to restructuring its board of directors with the participation of government representatives with their colleagues from the private sector to achieve integration and harmony.” between the government and private sectors to identify opportunities for development and growth, as well as the issuance of the generous directive to form a permanent coordinating committee with the membership of several government agencies to develop the contracting sector.”
For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Contractors Authority, Engineer Zakaria Al-Abdulqader, said: “In our dear homeland, we are enjoying an unprecedented development in the economic indicators of the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince. The Future Projects Forum comes to announce a new development boom in the contracting sector by showcasing nearly 3,000 participants. A project whose estimated value exceeds 1 trillion riyals, and we look forward to the attendance of more than 3,000 Saudi and foreign contractors and those interested in the contracting sector from 16 countries around the world for this forum and the accompanying exhibition.”
Engineer Al-Abdulqader added that the percentage of those registered to attend the forum from outside the Kingdom amounted to 25% of the total attendance, and this reflects the importance of the Authority’s role in organizing this forum to highlight the size of future opportunities and projects and what the Kingdom’s future needs from the contracting sector, as it is the executive arm of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 projects and the main driver. for many important sectors.
